having read NM many times, I just want to say that Jacob features with Bella for just over half the book... and not as a couple either... not nearly all of the book as everyone seems to think?!

Not that I don't love Jake... as much as you can love an annoying little brother type :oP
Of all the books, this one I find desperately sad...Bella's agony.... until Alice appears again and the outlook changes :o)
Hiedi Ho, I completely agree. Their trying to force the Bella/Jacob chemistry down our throats, as to where Bella/Edward just...worked, without trying. To be honest I can totally buy the Jcob is Bellas BFF, but not lover. It just doesnt sizzle like Bella/Edward.
