Unknown Aussie Actor Xavier Samuel to Play Riley?

Just Jared and Risky Business Blog report that Xavier Samuel has been cast as Riley! From Risky Business Blog:
Google might want to brace for a search onslaught: An unknown Australian actor named Xavier Samuel has landed the first new role in "Eclipse," the third "Twilight" pic.

Summit has hired the actor to play the role of a “newborn vampire” named Riley, a good-looking college student who joins the plot of villain Victoria to murder protagonist Bella (Kristen Stewart). Riley is corrupted by Victoria, for whom he has an inexplicable weakness.

The movie's larger plot centers on a choice Bella must make between the werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and the vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson).

Samuel, repped by Management 360, Gersh and Shanahan in Australia, has been in series of films down under, including "Newcastle," in which he played a Goth teenager amidst a group of surfers (the movie played Tribeca last year -- though you can bet Netflix will see just a small spike now), the Aussie period drama "September" and the upcoming sci-fi thriller "Road Train." This marks his first U.S. role.

Thanks, Dilia!

Well good luck Samuel , wish you all the luck on getting the role of Riley for "Eclispe".

  2. Way to go! Nice to see an Aussie in the Tilight saga. Now, off to see what else he has acted in... Thanks for the update.

  3. He looks like the Riley I imagined (:

  4. i heard that Tom Felton is gonna play Riley.. I think he would be a better choice but Xavier isn't bad either, he looks like Riley.

  5. I love the name Xavier. Ever since Cabbage patch kids. :) Does anyone else remember that that was the human boy's name in Cabbage Patch.
Anyway, he will look great with Rachelle!

  6. I do.. Amy.. and I was just thinking Xavier Samuel what a powerful name. He's actual how I pictured Riley when reading the book!! Great another actor with an accent!! I'm like "Wanda" in "A Fish Called Wanda" love accents or someone speaking in a foriegn language, such a turn on!!

  7. he is a cutie. haha...besides if he has the aussie accent in the movie I will like totally melt...haha.

  8. you really want him to be australian in the film? that could be kind of jarring and you americans never understand aussies anyway!
