The Hollywood Reporter gives us an inkling as to why Rachelle Lefevre decided to forgo Eclipse:
Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver and Rachelle Lefevre are playing Paul Giamatti's many wives in "Barney's Version," the adaptation of the Mordecai Richler novel being directed by Richard Lewis. Robert Lantos is producing via his Serendipity Point Films."Barney's" tells the story of the politically incorrect, fully lived life of the impulsive, irascible and fearlessly blunt Barney Panofsky (Giamatti).
Lefevre will play Clara, Barney's first wife, a wild, troubled artist. Driver plays Barney's second wife, the annoyingly loquacious Mrs. "P." Miriam, Barney's third wife and true love, will be played by Pike.
Principal photography starts Aug. 17 in Rome. Dustin Hoffman also is in the cast, playing Barney's father.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like it was a legit career decision on Rachelle's part so I guess I'll stop grumbling. Bryce is really good - it just would have been cool to have all the same players throughout the saga. That's show biz for you!
ReplyDeleteShe dumped us for that. Legit or not DON'T MAKE US BELIEVE YOUR GOING TO DO ECLIPSE and leave. I guess it's good for her now I'm pissed. But I do think Bryce will do a better job as Victoria.
ReplyDeleteBlahhh she should stay in Eclipse...has a little more chance to be seen than this movie...I can't believe this! She didn't knew the date they were starting filming Eclipse before sign for this movie? This is really really annoying!

ReplyDeleteShe is playing with some amazing actors..and to film in Rome..thats prob what made it hard...filming in Rome and Canada...sad that schedules couldnt be fit around..but this is a great op for her :) I will be positive..haha

ReplyDeleteI'm glad for her, staring in a film, based on a book by a writter from her home town of Montreal, but not thrilled our Canadian is leaving the saga, but the character ends in the third film anyway. Good Luck Rachelle.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to her! Starring alongside Dustin Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, and Minne Driver is a fantastic opportunity for a rising actress. Not the Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse wasn't, but those names draw a bigger connection.

As I said in my previous post (@ "Bryce Dallas Howard Replaces Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria") I don't think this is a "conflicting schedules" problem. Even if she is filming this, she is not the leading character here or in Eclipse. Dates could be arranged, her scenes shot in a different place (her main scene involves her, Edward, Seth, Bella and Riley NOT all the Cullens and the extras), etc.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure if Summit had had some interest in keeping her they would have talked to the company producing "Barney's" or tried to work it out somehow. They just didn't bother.
It's really sad. I wish Rachelle luck. We'll miss her =O(

ReplyDeleteI really like Bryce. I think she's a great actress, and maybe she will even do really great as Victoria. But this is just all really strange since Rachelle has been chatting it up about Eclipse for awhile and how she was scheduling her other projects around it so that she would be available for the third movie. It doesn't make any sense to me.
