Joan Jett's Tough Love

Pic from e!online

NY Daily News reports on Joan Jett:

The rocker gave Kristen Stewart, who plays a young Jett in the upcoming biopic “The Runaways,” a hard time last week, causing the young starlet to burst into tears on set.

Says an insider, “Joan just wants Kristen to play an authentic version of herself, so she needled her a little bit too much. But she apologized when she realized how upset Kristen got.”

At least there’s no bad blood between the two. Says our insider, “They’re like mother and daughter now.”

Dunno if this is true, but if it is...aww...

  5. She is rockin some serious dark lines under her eyes!! Too young to have those. Who knows if this is true, but if it is we've all been there where someone pushes us too far and we lose it for a minute or two.

  12. Kristen is working too much. I hope she gets some time off soon. Won't Eclipse be her 4th movie in a row? And often they are working longer than 8 hour days. I hope she gets a nice place in Vancouver where she can relax not some impersonal hotel room.

  18. Aaaw :~ I feel bad. I have no idea what exactly could've happened on set that brought the girl to tears, but I feel so bad anyway.
And I hope the girl does get some time off between shooting movies. It may look easy but I'm sure she's exhausted. She's only 19!

  19. I think she looks stunning with whatever she wears. & I seriously think she's going to be awesome in the Runways. <3 x

  20. I'm with Kat...she looks horrid!! But then I think she always looks bad so...

As for Joan Jett giving her a 'hard time'...I seriously don't see the problem there. I mean, she's supposed to be playing out her life on screen...if it were me, I'd want it done right too.

Maybe KStew just needs to grow a set and toughen up!!

  21. Lady Hale - i agree with you.

thou KStew doesn't look horrib all the time, just most of the time lol.

  22. I think Kristen looks beautiful always maybe some day a little more tired than others but beautiful nonetheless. She doesn't have caked on makeup and doesn't need to be done up all the time like a lot of fake looking actresses. And I love her for it! Hang in there Kris!

  23. I know I'm late in the game but Kristen admitted to being a very emotional person on the "Twilight" DVD commentary. So even if it is true I don't think it would be that big of a deal because she states she crys often. I know that Joan will get a lot of flack for giving Kristen criticism but this is a huge deal for Ms. Jett - she so private and to have this film is major. And she is EP on the project so she wants her story told right. I'm stoked about this film and can't wait I do think Kristen will do a great job.

  24. I agree with Lady Hale. This role is far different from Kristen's previous roles. She can't get in front of the camera with her stammering routine and expect Joan to sit back and let her crap on her kick-a$$ legacy. If this story is true, Kristen needs to man up.

  25. Kristen is narly just like JOan Jett, I dont know about her.... I LOVE her dont get me wrong here but she trips me out on a daily basis.... This part is going to be crazy to watch.

  26. Yeah she really does trip me out all the time!!!!

  27. Joan Jett needs to get over herself.

  28. @pearlywalnuts...

Seriously?!?! Joan Jett...the legend of females in rock & roll...needs to get over herself?!?!

This is a tough business and it's even tougher when it's a bio-film...if KStew can't get it right then...well, I guess I've already said she's a bad actress before so I think that pretty much covers it!!

  29. @Lady Hale...

Can't believe that someone who sports the moniker of the first female on the House of Lords (I assume you are a law student, but who knows?) would be such a b-to-the-hatch. First: as someone who lived through the eighties, I can assure you that, While JJ undoubtedly rocked, she was known for singing in a monotone growl, and certainly never tapped the kind of critical success of wunderkinds like Kate Bush. I Love Rock and Roll was pretty much it, unless you count some pretty bad covers she did later on. The Runaways were a created band, sort of like New Kids on the Block, but were still considered seminal because (a) they could play their instruments, and (b) they were young girls playing hard rock, unheard of at the time. Beyond that, in my humble opinion, Kstew's got a whole lot more gravitas that JJ, gay icon or not.

Plus, how does someone old enough to take Lady Hale's moniker get such a juvenile hate on for a 19 year old? Stunted much?

  30. @Anonymous...

What the Hale are you on about? My name has nothing to do with the House of Lords and 'b-to-the-hatch'?!?! Lol

You can think KStew has more gravitas if you want...I won't agree.

And as for the 'how does someone old enough to take Lady Hale's moniker get such a juvenile hate on for a 19 year old? Stunted much?' comment...I don't have any 'juvenile' hate for KStew. It's no secret that I can't stand the girl but I have my reasons for finding her of little substance.

It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. It would seem that YOU are the juvenile one here...making nasty comments simply because someone has a different opinion to you. You would almost think that it's a sin to not be a fan of KStew!!

  31. Calm down Lady. Anonymous is entitled to her own opinion too!

And 'seriously' right back at you...."the legend of females in rock and roll"? Pffft. Me thinks that's a bit of a stretch. Pat Benatar, sure. The ladies of Heart? Yep. Lita Ford even comes closer to that description than Joan Jett, imo. I completely agree with Anon's summarization of JJ. She's pretty darn close to a one hit wonder, as far as I'm concerned.

Now brace yourself....I'm not the biggest fan of KStew's acting either. In fact I was banned from New Moon Movie for posting that very opinion. (hehee) BUT I instantly thought when I read Twicracks post- "Who the F* does 'Joan Jett' think she is????" Making someone cry because they're not "portraying" her properly? Gimme a break. Why doesn't she just go ahead and play herself.

Maybe someone should make her cry.

    =)

  32. @pearlywalnuts...

I never said she wasn't entitled to her opinion. But Anonymous decided to take a swipe at ME because I had a different opinion...THAT is not cool!!

See your reply to what I said was a constructive argument without the unnecessary attack on my character.

As for what made KStew cry...no one actually knows what JJ said that made KStew cry.

But I just have to ask, and please don't take offence to this, am I right in assuming that KStew has suddenly become this big hot-shot actor and now needs people to pander to her every whim? Because there are things and people in EVERY workplace that are going to make someone upset so maybe she needs to get out in the real world and have a go out here.

  33. Hmm...I think the fact that she cried shows humility, no? To be intimidated to the point of tears by someone whom a good percentage of the present day population feel is much less famous than Kristen herself? Shows a sign of respect of sorts, I think...And she's also showing the typical (?) emotions of a normal teenage female as well. So I'm not so sure about a penchant for 'pandering' wih a side of unworldlyness. If I knew her personally, I guess I'd be able to answer the question better.

Now stop making me stick up for her damnit.

    lol
