Bella vs. Sookie: Who'd Win This Throwdown?

Desuana from TwiGossip shared a film.com article with me that pits True Blood's Sookie Stackhouse to Bella Swan on a few different levels, including the following:
HOT SEX
Can we even go here with a girl who is supposed to be a role model for pre-teen and teens? Well, Bella's ready to give it up to Edward, but he's more of an old-fashioned kind of guy. Either that or a heck of a tease. Even when they have their first smooch, he tells her she must stay very still and not move. Sure, he's afraid he might suck the life right out of her, but it's still a control issue. Meanwhile, this isn't Bill's first rodeo with a human. He knows what to do, and things get pretty rough. But there's something about the sexual tension between Bella and Edward that makes for a sizzling chemical reaction that's hotter than the wild animal fling between Sookie and Bill.
Gotta agree that Bella's the winner on this one. Read the rest here. :-)

  1. Tension baby Tension. There's nothing better in a book or movie than some sexual tension.

  2. I think they got Edwards intensions backwards. Yes he has to be extra careful with Bella. But I have always read into his pensiveness in the bedroom as defensiveness. He has had zero physical pleasure in over a century. He can hear his family go at it like monkeys at night, and reads it in everyones thoughts all around him, all the time. It must be like the Playboy channel for him. LOL! He must feel held prisoner by it, if you think about it. I always thought that Edward was more afraid to let himself go and give into his desires, then being 'safe'. He starts to open up a bit in Eclipse and allows himself to be physicaly close to Bella, the bedroom scenes, the meadow where he says to her, "I want you, right now." He meant it! So I guess I always felt that Edward was afraid to be intimate and human, more then conservative. He had immersed himself into the vampire side of himself for so long that to be human, to act human, was probablly the scariest thing he had ever done. But I guess thats what makes him that much more desirable. And thats why Bella beats Sookie hands down. Juju is right, it's all about tension. Stretch it out like a guitar string and when it gets strummed, it's that much sweeter!

  3. If I'm having to chose...I say Bella. But we are talking about two totally different natured couples. Bill and Sookie win in their own right since they do live in the adult world whereas Edward and Bella are the epitome of teenage turmoil. Sookie is a strong woman who exudes sexiness without even trying and doesn't even know it but Bella...well, there'e just something about Bella. She is so selfless and determined and she's got it bad for Edward. As does Edward for Bella but I still get goosebumps reading the tension in the book (which I'm doing right now, while I'm at work!) and the tension in the movie. I think the tension is always so much hotter because it feels forbidden...and we all crave forbidden fruit!

  4. Bella of course! Everybody loves/hates her because she is loved by Edward Cullen but...she's still our Bella!! I bet everybody agrees :-)

  6. Edward is not trying to "control" Bella in the kiss scene. He is trying to "protect" her. He wants her body and blood and this is new for him. If she were to react unexpectedly which would be everything because he is new at this his base instinct for her blood he fears would overpower him and he would kill her.....in no way is Edward controlling Bella except for her protection....anywhere in four books. He is honest about his feelings as honest as he can be being in this new feeling with Bella. I think it is hands down Bella and Edward for gut tearing sexual tension.

  7. For me it's a tie. They are two different takes on forbidden love. I think they both have tension and excitement. I love the books, but love True blood show- so well written- can't wait for this sunday. - On another side note sort of funny how Sookie can hear peoples thoughts, but not Bill. And Edward can read thoughts and not Bella. hmmm.

  11. Sookie and Bella are world apart. Both are independant. The only departure is Bella is only 18 and Sookie must be closer to 21 or least 21 she serve alcohol at a bar. So to chose between the two if I were to chose any of their lives I chose Bella's. She get everything, the hunky vampire husband, the child, the extended family plus money, and a cool extra not only she becomes a vampire but she awesome at it too. All this without softporn. Bella wins in her world.

  12. Um, SeRoToNiN... that makes NO sense.

Hate it if you want, but it's impossible to think True Blood is a Twilight rip-off when it predates Twilight.

  13. I think this question is a mute point- the vampires in each franchise have different control levels. Edward has a difficult time even being in the same room as Bella because of her scent, where as that is not an issue for Bill with Sookie. Intimacy is much easier for B/S than with B/E. It might be a little unfair to compair.

  14. I don't know if you can really compare the two series, they are so different! I haven't read the True Blood series but I love the show. True Blood seems to be meant for an adult audience. Twilight is great, but I think I am on Team Bill and Sookie here :)

  15. i;m a big twilight fan, but seriously, Bella's pathetic!! she's a doormat enough as it is, but compare her to SOOKIE of all people? c'mon - no competition....Sookie is a woman who can do anything and face anyone, Bella's a spazoid!

  16. C'mon Bella is Bella.... She is the best, she is Edwards Bella so for that reason she is amazing!

  17. ok fine then.. i just dont like the similarities when twilight is to make u beleave that all other vampire stories are just hollywood.. and it makes me wonder if stephenie new about TB before she wrote twilight..,

  18. and Danielle i agree partly with u.. it does really come down to the audience and what they preferr

  19. I did this SAME thing on my blog, Showdown and I still can't decide. I've also listed out reasons Bella's way cooler than Sookie, and vice versa. I've only reached the conclusion it's like apples and oranges. Could Sookie read Bella's thoughts and get the upper hand? Or would it be like Edward where her thoughts are blocked? Are we talking Bella pre-vamp or post? I love them both for such different reasons....Bella in her teen angst glory of first love, with a much deeper level than we see of light-hearted southern Sookie. I just can't choose!
