Dear everybody, Yesterday I got wind of a supposed December 2008 draft of the New Moon script floating around, and by now some media outlets are reporting on this widely-Twittered news. As a professed TwiCrack junkie, you *know* I wanna go there (Hi, my name is TwiCrack and I'm an Addict, remember?) and there have been times where I've crossed the line feeding my sick addiction, but I'm just not gonna go there with this one.
So, it's out there. And thanks to everybody who sent it to me and risked turning me into Gollum by taunting me with this *Precious*. You can probably find Precious pretty easily, but I'm not gonna be posting this type of mega-spoiler, which if real, was most definitely ill-gotten.
You know I loves the spoils, but like Midnight Sun, this script is the fishy-type of spoiler that will potentially denigrate my November 20th New Moon experience. I'm already gonna be distracted the first time around comparing the movie to the book, let alone a draft script! To each her own, but this is where I stand on the matter. :)
xoxo,
TCA
P.S. I'm hardly a strong person; I have limited will-power and must admit that when I clicked the script open, I nearly couldn't stop myself from devouring it -- kind of like Edward sucking the the venom out of Bella's blood. Can't enable a junkie like me by handing me drugs, you know? hehe
Props to you for resisting the urge! I hope I'm able to do the same! :/
ReplyDeleteMUST - STAY - STRONG!
I'm with you on that. I can't imagine reading an early draft at this point. New Moon is going to be an emotional thing to watch to begin with. It's going to be difficult to sit through it for all kinds of reasons, not the least of which is just waiting for Robward to come back at the end, preferably shirtless. Having a rough draft in my head to compare against, as well as the book itself....would be torture. And if it really sucks, that would kill my next 6 months of New Moon anticipation as well.
ReplyDeleteFellow TwiCrack addicts, i need your help to stay strong! hhehe. Oh, you know it's killing me...i'm SO tempted...and i have to admit, i did read part of it - maybe about 6 pages. it was like...edward feasting on bella's blood - nearly couldn't stop.
ReplyDeleteso i'm not that strong...but as i read those first pages, i realized that if the script is real, it was totally ruining all the suspense for me. and if it's really off, then i'm just gonna be so distracted thinking about how the movie isn't like the script.
Don't spoil! There will be enough actual real visual spoilers---clips and teasers and trailers galore, legitimate spoilers---to feast upon in the coming months. STAY STRONG!
ReplyDeletei'm trying, brightredink!
ReplyDeletefirst step is to admit i have a problem. hehe.
im not going to lie.. i read the first page and then forced my self to stop!! its sooo hard haha we have to all stay strong together
ReplyDeletenot gonna lie read it lol...well not all of it just the main points...definetly different from the book though
ReplyDeleteTwiCrack, you can do this! Like Carlisle said to Edward before he sucked the venom out of Bella's arm "find the will to stop". ha ha
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your blog.
Cheers much!
Wow, you guys have way more way power than I do. I'm suck a spoilerholic. I think it's good that I never find these things because I'd be in such trouble. Serious kudos to you all and please keep up the great work with this site. It's always such a fun blog to read! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHheh. i need you guys to be my support group to serve as my 'Carlisle'. hehe
ReplyDeleteI too saw this, and i too am trying (extremely hard) not to look!!! We must be strong together! Safety in numbers and all that jazz!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first read your comment about "edward feasting on bella's blood" I had to re-read. I thought that was in the script!! lol
ReplyDeleteAnyways, there are enough pictures and spoilers out there to feed our addictions. Good thing I don't have the time to go searching for a script that I don't know is real script or not.
I'm going to try and resist.
ReplyDeleteI managed to resist Midnight Sun, out of respect for Stephenie's wish, until Stephenie put it up on her website --- then I couldn't take it any more and devoured the whole thing (I work time - oops). I keep thinking I can resist this because I know the story (but clearly, I knew the story in Midnight Sun too) --- oh well, going to try my darnedest to resist. I hoping if I can just manage to make it a few days - Summit will get a lot of the links down and then no more temptation. :)
Yes, why control myself when someone can help me do so?
The one thing we can do is alert Summit of download sites, though it's hard -- has spread like a virus across the internet already.
ReplyDeleteThe core of this is that the posting of this script violates all sorts of copyright laws that I don't really understand -- but basically, we're really not supposed to have access to this.
I have no idea how to reach Summit, but other sites with Summit connections like Twilight Lexicon can probably help. If you do come across a download site, you can help by alerting Summit to get the link removed.
Twi-Crack Addict - you know what always helps me when I'm struggling with temptation?

It's an awesome fan-made poster by Grodansnagel - it's helping get me through this tough day! :)
Thank you so much TCA for not posting this. I already regret the tireless Youtube searches I do and the spoilers I endlessly read---it is for real, like crack. I already know what is going to happen from reading the books and I am slowly ruining it for myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping me honest!
Hi Kat,
ReplyDeleteI wish that I could say I was a good person, a good doobie, but I must admit that I've gone pretty far with posting spoilerish stuff on my blog, so perhaps it's hypocritical of me at this juncture to decide that I don't want to share links to the script.
However, as I just wrote to one of my bloggy friends, this isn't a 'whet-your-appetite' sort of spoiler like those DVD extras that just made us crave more (and got us to buy multiple versions of the DVD).
As I was reading the beginning of the script, it was increasingly apparent to me that this particular spoiler is one that -- if real -- is potentially costly to Summit's New Moon production.
This spoiler makes it tougher for Summit to develop and control their marketing messages, puts more pressure on the actors involved, etc.
Yes, "We Shall Overcome" and all that jubbly stuff.
ReplyDelete"Don't go to the dark side TCA" ha ha
Man! Today is the one day I wish I hadn't looked at your blog! I'm nowhere near as strong as you guys. I can't even go through a season of TV shows without find some type of spoiler. This is bad! Hopefully I can make it! November is so far away!
ReplyDeletesomebody give me the link to that script. Please!!!!!!!! I'm too weak.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to resist so that I enjoy the movie hard.
ReplyDeleteBUT OH MAN...am I tempted.
I must read it! Where is it. Screw the ruining the experience for me.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to stay strong!
I read it, and I don't think it's any big deal. I mean, I've read New Moon about five times anyway, so the plot is not ruined in the least for me. Besides, I know there will be changes...I've seen pictures of the filming of Jacob & Bella at the movies, which ISN'T in this Dec. 08 script. I actually couldn't enjoy watching Twilight the first time, because all I could do was compare it to the movie, so at least now I can relax and watch New Moon. Believe me, Summit will still get hundreds of dollars out of me when the movie/dvds come out. All the script has done is made me more excited to see it and see how they'll pull off what's there (if it really is the script, even).
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant I compared Twilight movie to BOOK the first time I watched it.
ReplyDeleteIf you read the section titled New Moon Unofficial Film Script — Shattered Pieces (Part 2)
ReplyDeleteand go to the comments, you will see this:

Liz and Dom, thanks a lot!
Hi Hilda. I wrote all the scripts that you will find on this site. My name is Lorna Lopez. This is UNOFFICIAL, meaning it’s NOT the Melissa Rosenberg script. At the end of each part of the script, I’ve stated:
Lorna Lopez aka ATwilightKiss Notes This script version is my attempt to reconcile the literary world with the more visual medium of film. Just like in the Lord of the Rings, changes will be made to accommodate a driven story line, time constraints, and attention to character development.
So there you have it - IT IS NOT THE MELISSA ROSENBERG SCRIPT!!!!!!!
TCA, we can do this - like you, I started to read - just to verify it's authenticity, I told myself...
ReplyDeleteIt's my favourite of the books, because of its anticipation, and I can't spoil the movie for myself for the same reason!
Like the Cullens, we must stay strong and resist!!!
:D
I read it. I kinda think it's the Cliff Notes version of New Moon. I'm not worried that I spoiled anything.
ReplyDeletewhere can i read the script?
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a a rough draft, or something along those lines because they left out some things that are going to be filmed. Like, the proposal and even the character Alec.
ReplyDeleteI'm linking to this, fyi, in case you get some extra readers... I agree 100% with everything you say here. I skimmed through it last night and it seems like a super rough draft, missing not only key characters but key scenes as well. It's either sketchy or I'm not going to be a happy camper come November! (How could they leave out the proposal?!)
ReplyDeleteWhere do I read the script?
ReplyDeleteI can tell that it's either not a real script or a rough draft.
The proposal is going to be in the movie. I've heard that they were trying different ways for Edward to ask Bella. They were filming different ways to see which was the best.
mmrm26, I heard about that too. The different ways that he would ask Bella. Definitely a rough draft, which is stated on the script anyways. I believe it said "second draft december 21, 2008". So, there will be many things changed/added. It was great, but some important things were rushed, and left out, so thank god for it not being the final draft.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a link?
ReplyDeleteBecause I have tried the link from that Twitter account and it said that they removed it. So, I didn't get to read it.
Did anybody save it as a document and you can send it to me?
I just wanted to scan through it.
I just had it and clicked it off..... you don't want to read it. I hope that is not the real script, although it does seem like it. I'm not pleased at all... too much has been cut, and too much more has been added. I wish I would have never read it. Be happy is has been deleted, although I'm sure it will be up again soon. I'm not even sure I want to ruin my image of the book by seeing the movie....
ReplyDeleteI would post the link, but I don't think think that would be very respectful of me. I go to this site daily, multiple times a day, and I wouldn't want to do something that upsets anyone. So if I get the okay? Personally, I don't feel very spoiled because I know they made lots of changes since that second draft was made back in December.
ReplyDeleteCAN SOMEONE PLEASE POST THE LINK?
ReplyDeleteI understand.
ReplyDeleteWould you mind e-mailing it to me at melissa.mela26@gmail.com please?
I saved it anyone interested message me on my twitter and I'll send it to you. Don't be afraid it doesn't ruin it, its just a second draft.
ReplyDeleteI had it in my possession twice, but I can't do it. I had to delete them. New Moon is my favorite book and I will NOT spoil myself. November is so far away! *cries* I just see this image of a disappointed Chris Weitz in my head. He's worked so hard to make this movie awesome, and I can't ruin it by reading an early draft of the script.
ReplyDeleteCan someone please email the script or a link to it? I can't find it on-line? taniad@hotmail.com.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I read a script that was out there.. followed the book pretty well, was missing the movie scene though.. But did have the biker scene in it. I have no will power when it comes to spoilers..
ReplyDeletei don't know if ill survive this one...:'( i cried threwout the whole book, like everyone has, and now visible in front of my eyes....... i dont know how ill retain it.... :'(
ReplyDeleteGGSophie I really want to read the script but I dont twitter. Will you please send it to me? send it to: ms.hemlig@hotmail.com
ReplyDeletecan someone please give me a link
ReplyDeleteI-CANNOT-READ-SCRIPT-MUST-NOT!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletei DON'T WANT TO READ THAT SCRIPT.NO, I DO. I'M JUST SAYING THAT TO MYSELF.CAN'T YOU POST A LINK? I AM dying for NOV. to come. Why can't it COME????????
I just read the script and I absolutely loved it. In any case it made me even more anxious to watch the movie and desperate for november to come. It is a rough draft anyway because I compared it to the latest trailer where Taylor Lautner is commenting on the movie and not everything on the draft is accurate with the trailer. Can't wait!
