Lately, I've been writing about a lot of smutty stuff, like paparazzi pics, because there's just no new news lately, folks! However, here is some real, wholesome news to balance everything out!
Stephenie Meyer has won a Children's Choice Book Awards 'Author of the Year' for Breaking Dawn.

P.S. It's unclear what category BD won in, may be the teen category! Still baffled as to how BD could ever be considered a kiddie book.
Am I the only person out there who thinks maybe Breaking Dawn isn't exactly a children's book? Isle Esme's not okay for little 8 year olds to read. But that's just my 'pinion. Still, congrats Stephenie. I'm glad she won teen's choice too!

ReplyDeleteBreaking Dawn isn't totally a children's book, I agree. My only complaint was that it kinda fell in the middle. Not for 8 year olds, but not as steamy as most women my age would have like it to be. lol
ReplyDeleteYeah Breaking Dawn....def not a kids book. Maybe that's because us 20+ women have imaginations that get away on us when reading things about Isle Esme and the cottage, hehehe. But either way, all that gore I wouldn't be wanting my child to read
ReplyDeleteYah while I'm very excited for Stephenie (Congrats Stephenie! You SO deserve it!) I have to agree that aspects of Breaking Dawn did strike me as being inappropriate for young children.
ReplyDeleteI thought I read somewhere (I could be wrong) or saw an interview somewhere where Stephenie her self considered having a warning placed on the book (something I'm sure her publisher did away with).
The part that struck me as something too adult for a young child to read (or try to imagine/picture) was the part where Edward has to cut her belly open with his teeth and then the baby biting her.
While necessary to the story and definitely believable I think that mental image can be sort of scary for wee ones.
Isle Esme and the cottage were cool with me 'cause it was more implied than completely explained.
Side note: You know Twilight has resulted in tons of vampire books...well I'm secretly hoping that New Moon results in tons of hot shape shifting Native American books.
ReplyDeleteThat bugs the living crap out of me. BD is so not a childrens book. Im 31 years old and have to say, the contents of BD we're NOT child like.
ReplyDeleteIm not complaining, their first night together as vampires was very steamy. I loved when Alice returns from the cottage with the key and Edward says, "Finally!" I still chuckle at his impatience!
How in the world Isle Esme or the "birth" of Renesmee could be classified as children's reading material is beyond me.

ReplyDeleteBut as a 30+ I dont think it was for children or Tween material, i believe it was just right for the 20+ category letting us use our more developed imaginations...LOL

ReplyDeleteI'm definitely the last person who should be judging what is or isn't inappropriate material for children but BD is definitely not! Teenagers, yes but someone anyone young than that... not so much.

ReplyDeleteI agree that BD is not a childrens book. But, if you've read what it says in the [Source] link, it says that the winners were chosen in six differet categories based on the different age groups, and that Stephenie won the "teen category". ;)
